As the world celebrates World Environment Day on 5th June, MEWA is delighted to announce that it has been recognised as one of the most sustainable company’s in Austria by the national daily newspaper Kurier. In a study carried out by the Institute for Management and Economic Research (IMWF), Milestones and Factkontor, the country’s most sustainable companies with over 100 employees were identified and MEWA was given the seal of approval and title, ‘Sustainability Company 2020’.
At MEWA, we celebrate sustainability every day and have done so for more than 100 years; we are very pleased to receive this honour. Sustainability and corporate responsibility have been the cornerstones of our business strategy since 1908. We pioneered textile sharing and, through continued innovation, we have developed processes to reduce the consumption of primary resources throughout our business.
Twenty three years ago, we were the first company in the industry to achieve ISO 14001, the global environmental management system standard. In 2016 we achieved the energy management system ISO 50001 and remain committed to energy planning and targets to ensure continued minimal energy consumption.
Happy World Environment Day!
